Return to Belle Fleur Read online

Midnight in Belle Fleur begins with Juliette and Victor, her boyfriend, who is also a witch, in the calm after the chaos after book one. They’re both in Juliette’s aunt’s diner. In the previous book, Juliette broke the council’s laws by using her magic in front of regulars (humans) to save a child’s life. Now some regulars in Belle Fleur have magic and this can’t be.

So in walks Fabienne to “fix” all of Juliette’s problems. This evil witch swoops in erasing magic from regulars, but it comes with a price. Juliette must step down as Belle Fleur’s lead witch, as she’s on probation. With reduced magical powers, she realizes she’s vulnerable, and so is Belle Fleur until she can regain her powers.

Fabienne ends up getting a role into the telenovela show which Juliette is an actress on.

Meanwhile Juliette’s nemesis, Thane, is back, and he weaves a spell that erases Juliette’s boyfriend from her mind.

Victor, Juliette’s boyfriend, has an overprotective mother, who is also a witch. To protect him from Thane, Victor’s mother, Migdalia, gets Victor whisked away to a magical realm, like a swanky vacation. However, Thane hijacks Victor, and Victor is lost in a pocket realm. His ex-girlfriend, Klariza, pops in and keeps Victor company as they find a way out, or wait to be rescued.

So, without Victor, Juliette’s Healer and Destroyer Witch halves struggle to find their balance. She knows something is off…feels like someone is missing. Sometimes when she walks, she reaches her hand out and feels a warm hand embrace hers. She doesn’t know who it is, but knows she must find this mysterious guy.

Thane and his Destroyer Witches want the New Council to gain power and replace The Council, the ruling group that controls witches. Their power is growing, and that is a threat to regulars, because The New Council wants to let regular humans know witches exist, then rule humans with terror.

At midnight, Juliette’s magical power grows, making it difficult for her to control her Destroyer side. She discovers that her friend Chesley, a former regular human, now has magical powers. She realizes that Fabienne’s magical spell didn’t work as well as she thought.

During a fight with Thane, in the swamps of Belle Fleur, Juliette is there with her friends and Alec, a witch who does not want his magical powers, and takes a quelling herb to stop his powers, is forced to use his powers because Juliette challenges him. He is angry at her, along with her other friends.

She realizes she needs to control herself, before she gives in to her Destroyer side, and behaves more like Thane…which she does NOT want to do.

Juliette is led to get in touch with her Healer side, and slow down. Juliette’s aunt Alma, her grandmother and Renner, all help Juliette with this new focus of hers.

Juliette gets help from Alec and Alec’s father, who works for the FBI, in a secret department focused on supernaturals. They help Juliette discover that the mysterious guy is Victor. She finally rescues Victor and pulls him from the waters in the swamp…but someone comes up, too…Klariza, Victor’s ex.

Turns out, Klariza wants to meet Alec. They quickly become a couple. She’s evil, working for Thane and Alec finds that Thane’s his real dad…now instead of quelling herbs, he’s taking a potion that heightens his powers.

A big epic fight happens at the end.

Alec’s FBI dad shows Juliette and Victor that there’s a magical dome that can cover the city with the press of a button.

They decide to put a dome on Belle Fleur while all Destroyer Witches are at a party out of Belle Fleur. But the person has to be out of Belle Fleur for it to work…so Juliette and Victor agree to do it.

The end of the book closes with Juliette and Victor together, standing on a roof in South Beach, looking toward Belle Fleur. The town is safe, for now.

The last few sentences of the book…

“Do you think Belle Fleur will be safe until we return?”

“I’m sure Renner and my Mom will keep things in order while we’re gone,” Victor said.

“I hope you’re right,” Juliette said. She looked over her shoulder, seeing the dim golden glow of the dome protecting her hometown, Belle Fleur.
